It is due to the presence of this particular chemical in the plant, Kratom is being widely used to treat the users of opium. The leaves of the plant also contain various other alkaloids which help in the bolstering of the immune system. To a layman, Kratom is really beneficial and has got some major roles in lowering of blood pressure and detoxification of the body. The antioxidant properties of the plant are due to the presence of Epicatechin which is mostly found in dark chocolates. Kratom also contains EGCG and is as beneficial as the green tea.

Accepted that the plant is widely used as a drug in its native land but that does not mean that the plant is devoid of any beneficial effects.
