From your bathroom, kitchen, home to bonus room and basement, there are many different types of renovations available for your home. The following renovations vary from small jobs to freshen up your living space to a full overhaul to give your home a new look. 1) Basements. As one of the least-used spaces in a home, the basement is commonly overlooked when it comes to renovations. Whether your basement is unfinished or not, you can easily add more space to your home by renovating the lower floor. Typical ideas include adding a media centre – as there are normally no windows in a basement, this makes it ideal for movie watching or playing video games. You can also add a suite downstairs perfect for visiting company or an older child. 2) Home. The most common renovations for a home are in the kitchen or bathroom, but other ideas can include giving your home a fresh coat of paint or adding hardwood flooring. You can change the look and feel of your home very easily by changing the color scheme of the paint on the walls – give your living room a cozy glow with warm earth tones or make your bathroom a seaside getaway with light blues and greens. 3) Kitchen. This is usually where most of the renovation money is spent, and ideas abound on updating your kitchen. From adding a large island to the middle of the room to updating cabinets and putting in new appliances, the kitchen can either be sophisticated and classy or down-home and comfortable. There are so many options in just the type of appliances you can choose – from fancy gas stoves to flat-top ceramics, the sky is the limit with molding your kitchen after your own personality. 4) Bathroom renovations. From simple additions of a shower stall to making your bathroom a spa for the senses, there are many different ways of updating this area. As mentioned above, a simple coat of paint can turn a boring bathroom into a getaway for the senses. Why not add a deep soaker tub for after those long days of work? Or even a Jacuzzi tub to massage away those aches and pains. 5) Bonus room. Just like a basement, a bonus room is a fresh canvas for your ideas. You can add a games room, with a built-in sound system and funky lighting. Or how about a library with a cozy fireplace and lots of bookshelves? You can also add a home office, or somewhere for the kids to work on their homework. The home is where you spend most of your time, whether it be eating at your new island or watching TV in the high-end entertainment room. Make the most of your investment and ensure that you enjoy every part of your home, by renovating it to fit your wants and needs. Jake is the author of this article on Home Renovations.
