| Current sales of fashion brands are on a high after recession had forced people to cut down on their shopping. Now as economy in many countries is getting back on track, many people are embarking on their shopping spree, to make up for their reduced spending over the last one or two years. Some people are also trying to avail the discount offers and cash in on the fact that even the best brands are now available at lower prices because of reduced spending, competition between themselves and also to entice the customers to buy again thus helping the market move towards a positive direction. Many brands are using their current sales to estimate what might be the need of the hour and how to strategize for the next season. The dip and restart of the shopping patterns has also given many brands time to consider their strategies and come up with innovative ideas to sell their goods. One of the most interesting strategies of the brands is to directly connect to the end customer. Earlier most brands would let the stores deal with customers while they took care of celebrity promotions and big ad campaigns. Now to pep up the current sales many fashion brands are trying to connect to the end customer and find out what he or she really wants. Social networking sites and web 2.0 tools are helping brands use various internet marketing strategies to connect to the end customer. A simple way is to do ad campaigns for the brand at social networking sites, college blogs, fashion blogs and sites and many other websites where end customers or target customers are expected to visit. By doing so, some of the brands are not only making a name but are also slowly enhancing their brand reputation as well. At the end of the day the trendier and cooler brands are those that connect to the customers and with whose brand house the people are more familiar with. If current sales were anything to go by, one can feel that the reduced prices are what they should always have been, given that costs have gone upwards substantially. This also shows that there are more people now who value their money and understand the futility of shopping for goods at prices way above what they are worth. Many people, although brand crazy are paying lesser for the brand name and more for their actual utility forcing fashion houses too, to reconsider their branding, advertising strategies. While location ad campaigns are getting more and more popular, many companies are trying to convert their online popularity to bring more people to their stores. Apple is a very good example of this where all the marketing hype generated on the internet for all their products brings thousands of customers to their stores every day. This not only enhances the reputation of the brand but also helps reach good sales figures and make a strong customer base while competitors are still trying to find their feet in the business.
