| Till the year 1908, White City was virtually nothing but a farmland. However, in this very year, this city hosted Summer Olympics and an exhibition on France and Britain, giving it a significant place in the world map. Many other exhibitions took place in the following years also, and the marble, white in colour cladding the pavilion made it earn the name ‘White City’. This city had stadium, which was built by the King Edward VII, and wherein the Olympics were held. However, in 1985, this stadium was demolished and in its place was built the broadcasting centre of BBC. This area has become very famous to the native people as well as the tourists. This is because White City is host to the BBC TV’s broadcast department. Moreover, this place has now become a genuine location for residential purposes.
